"Mummy! Finally, we have a book about a cello!"
My cello-playing daughter laments that there are so many music storybooks about the piano and the violin. Why are there no stories about cellos, she asked. Hence, her excited reaction when we found this funny title called There Once Was a Shy Fellow Who Swallowed a Cello.
Besides the cello, the book introduces kids to a variety of instruments and the sounds that they make through the story of a, well, the title says it all - one skinny dude with a huge appetite for music (and musical instruments).
Similarly, Zin! Zin! Zin! A Violin isn't JUST about a violin. See if your cellist can spot the cello and learn new words to describe musical groups by size. Is the cello in the trio? The quartet? The quintet? The octet?
You can find both titles in the Parents Can Coach MUSIC FUN LIBRARY. The books are currently available at the Pinnacle studio. Drop us a note if you would like to read them at Windy Heights.
