Those of us on the 100 Days of Practice Challenge should be hovering around or beyond Day 50 by now, depending on which day you started on in April. Congratulations on getting this far with daily practice!
If you are on an additional Days Parents Challenge to be "IN" this with your child, let us know how you're doing!
My challenge to myself was to create words a day towards Parents Can Coach or towards writing a children's book. I did not foresee that I would write 750 words for the latter in one sitting - and spend the rest of the time whittling down my word count instead of adding to it!!
You see, I had decided AFTER writing the first draft that my story would be for a picture book. I manually counted the words in a few children's picture books and realised that most averaged around 300 to 500 words. So this Parents Challenge goal certainly backfired! As for the number of illustrations needed for the book? THIRTY! I had better stop writing and get busy with drawing.
The really good thing that came out of this Parents Challenge is that I signed up for a course on Udemy on publishing my own children's book. I am halfway through the course. My kids aren't impressed with my progress though and comment "You mean you are still writing your book? I thought you would be done already!" Well, these days are full of teachable moments to demonstrate to your children that skills like writing and playing an instrument need time and consistent effort to develop. Results are certainly not instantaneous!
How are you doing on your Day Parents Challenge? I know some of our members are on a daily fitness challenge! Share your progress with us!
